Resolution Supporting Special Legislation that Would Permit Tri-County Community College to Charge In-State Tuition to Students from Out-of-State Counties that Border the Tri-County Community College Service Area
WHEREAS, Tri-County Community College desires to charge in-state tuition rates to students from out-of-state counties that border the Tri-County Community College service area; and
WHEREAS, the service area of Tri-County Community College consists of Cherokee, Clay and Graham Counties; and
WHEREAS, those counties bordering the Tri-County Community College service area consist of Towns, Union and Fannin Counties in Georgia and Polk, Monroe and Blount Counties in Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, we are close neighbors to these out of state border counties; and
WHEREAS, we are highly inter-related in our commerce and economic development plans; and
WHEREAS, these border counties make up a large portion of our labor pool area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Commissioners of Cherokee County supports special legislation to permit Tri-County Community College to charge in-state tuition to students from out-of-state counties that border the Tri-County Community College service area.
